Resumen:
Tomado de la solapa: "In this book Dr. Israel M. Kirzner, Professor of Economics at New York University, traces the history, not of economics, but of the successive conceptions that economists themselves have held of the subject matter of their inquiry. Professor Kirzner has provided a simple gut brilliant statement of what economics is. Professor Kirzner first vindicates the value and importance of an adequate definition of economics. He then proceeds to set forth the considerations that have led economists gradually to abandon the earlier notions of their subject as a science of "wealth," "subsistence", "welfare", and selfish avarice and to substitute definitions of it that have viewed it, in turn, as the science of the social system of exchange, the pricing mechanism, monetary measurement, the maximization of want-satisfaction, the economizing of scarce resources, and, most recently, as a branch of praxeology or the science of human action. The foreword is by Dr. Ludwig von Mises. Th introduction to this second editions is by Laurence S. Moss, Assistant professor of Economics, University of Virginia."
