Resumen:
Tomado de Amazon: "The worst thing that ever happened to me was having to go to school. During my early years I attended a small private school in my home town Villa Nueva. I pretty much enjoyed it… during recess. The rest of the day was a permanent struggle. Most of the time I didn’t want to be in class because it was boring. And most teachers agreed with me in that point: they didn’t want me to be in their class. Sophisticated words like hyperactivity and attention deficit disorder were not used back then -but they were also not necessary. Whenever my parents were called to talk to the principal (which happened quite often), they were simply told that I "wouldn't behave" and that I "needed to be corrected," implying that something was wrong in me, not in the system. Before I was expelled, my parents transferred me to a big and prestigious private school in Guatemala City. Some things changed and some things didn't. I was more tired because of the longer commute. I was busier because the new school was much more demanding and had me sitting there longer hours. But in class not much changed. Most lessons were plain boring. And I behaved accordingly. Deep inside, something didn't click. I felt like something just didn't make sense… but I didn’t know what it was. I was sure something was wrong and all the fingers apparently pointed at me, to the point that they were starting to convince me… to the point that I started having suicidal thoughts. Meanwhile, other students would not get in trouble like I did. They would simply do what they were told. They would silently and complacently allow their minds to be frozen. Many years have passed since then. Let me share with you what I have learned about learning, so we can imagine a better world and then make it happen." --
